As you and I were having a pre-call conversation , I was just writing down a ton of things that we were just talking about with friends , and so the new thing I want to do today is I actually want to kind of set this up in a way to let people know , maybe , some things we're going to talk about . I was , and so yeah , so all my Auburn fam , they're like you're going to call Justin out on this right , you're really going to have a conversation , because you can't let him get away with saying y'all talk some nonsense before the season started .

So all their life , all they've known , is like these heydays of we're national championship contenders . So a funny little mark is every time that I had like one of my boys were born the next season that kicked off , alabama won a national title . So all they've known in their life is that Alabama wins , and so when this happened , I had to remind them of the days of the late 90s , early 2000s that I used to watch games wondering are we going to even win this game ? And when we would beat a mediocre team , I would celebrate and I would turn on the radio show after just to listen to all the people saying Roll Tide , good game . Today we really pulled it out . I think Coach so-and-so is doing a good job and we're going to do this and we might finish eight and four .

Now we have granted two fans in our room , but when I lay on my side I don't know if anybody else has this issue when I lay on my side and I head on the pillow , it like creates this isolation booth and all I can hear is the ringing in my ear . So I've taken my iPhone and I turn on white noise and I put it underneath my pillow .

You won't hear it in the room because it's under the pillow . Now here's the thing that I didn't recognize is that your iPhone actually produces a lot more heat than you think it does . So when you put it under a pillow and it's on all night , it gets really hot . And when it gets hot , then it shuts down and I wake up around like 3 am because the white noise dies . And so I take advantage of that , because as you get older you also have to you know go to the restroom more .

Motorsports Park and for those who have listened for a little while , my son loves racing , wants to be a professional race car driver , wants to get into motorsports . I'm not going to go into all of that , but what I do want to say is , over this weekend , this GT Challenge , it's like Ford versus Ferrari versus Audi versus Mercedes versus Lamborghini versus like all the major brand manufacturer sports cars , right . So around the world they're having all these races happening and it's a points race for manufacturers . So every race they tally up the points for the manufacturer and then there's a world challenge .

Some big bragging points right there it really is , and uh , so mercedes , they won but anyways they have a um at every race .

They set up this uh simulator challenge and if you're into any kind of motor sports or you know digital anything , everything is now simulated racing simulated , flying simulated , this and you learn so much in these environments . So my son has this set up at the house . It's right here behind me and we connected to the computer and he he spends I don't know a couple hours every other day or so on it , learning , growing , getting better , and so they have this sim challenge . Last year he came in third place overall the entire weekend Wow , GR Sim Challenge . And so at this Birmingham race after this weekend he had the fastest lap time , came in first , Dude , yeah , I didn't even know that .

I was about to take over we met , uh , weston Workman , who many people may not know who he is , but he's an up-and-coming driver , young , 20-something , and we got connected with his family at one of the last races and they invited us . This is crazy , this is just nuts . So Weston Workman just won a national championship . His points he's pulled every race this year . He won like the circuit's not even done yet for this toyota gr racing not even done yet . I think there might be three or four races left .

yeah , he's already sealed the championship because his point is he could lose every race , be disqualified from every race , and he's already won . He has been killing people , then yeah and so you ready for this .

So we met his family . We were watching the race with his family up in this booth area and they're like , oh man , we remember you guys and it was so cool and they were just treating us like family and we rejoiced and we went to the podium . And then , not only did we go to the podium , like there's this barrier right to where all the normal fans have to stand while they watch this . Yeah , the common people .

Mama came over , gave me a big hug and said y'all get over here on this side , come on . Looked at Max and me and we walked all the way around the barrier . We're on , we're with the family . Wait , it gets even better . Oh my gosh . We're with the family , right there by the race car , with him getting out . He's being interviewed by the media and he's talking and stuff , and I feel I'm like , first of all , I've never , we haven't met Weston yet , but we know his family , yeah , and they're already treating us like family .

Yeah , and they're all and mama's up there going , y'all to get up here with us well , mama's saying it , he's not gonna argue with mama I was like mama's , like y'all , get up here .

And I'm like what , if I'm on the stage with the national championship of Toyota GR Racing , of this young guy with his entire family , and I'm thinking they're going to look back at this picture and go who are these dudes ? You know what the heck ?

So after it was done , the family was like like , hey , we're going to walk over back to the truck , you know . And she knew I haven't met him personally yet . And so she's like , oh , come on . And we walked over . And she's like Weston , get over here .

He said I'm in the sim all the time doing the same thing you're doing at home . He said the whole sim thing . He said honestly . She's lost her mind at this moment and he puts down and then he's trying to explain like , oh , I got the ball , I gave it to my son and she just keeps that's my ball , that's my ball , that's my ball , that's my , and so he takes the ball from his son in that moment , gives the ball to her , she walks off and then everybody's booing her yeah , rightfully so and she starts flipping everybody off , giving everybody .

But I guarantee you I'm wondering how many people are having that conversation right now , cause it's easy to just like lay into somebody , but it's like man , if you were all dealing with hurts and brokenness in ways that nobody else knows , I just can't imagine that girl being six , seven , eight years old growing up to think I want to become that , that person and she probably thought we're going to a game tonight .

Finding Empathy in Viral Moments

That ball meant something to her that she could not let go , and she's still in that moment . And now she's getting booed , yeah . And so it's not just the booze she's reacting to . Now there's a disappointment of feeling . There's no telling what she's feeling , and her reaction isn't to just deescalate kind of like the dad did .

Her reaction is to she's just flicking everybody off and trying to go teach another guy who said something to her . She then walks down , if you see videos , and she's trying to teach him a lesson with her words , and she's . There's a reason . She is reacting in a way to you need to hear me . We don't know what's happening in her life Right . That makes her wonder or makes her react to feel like I need to feel significant right now , and it's completely backfired on her . And so what she thought was the start of amazing night has turned into , in this day and age , mob mentality . Whatever side you're on , we still have to admit , any of us can get caught in a bad moment .

So I think , as leaders , it opens my eyes to be very self-aware that , okay , we're living in a time like no other . That our worst moments . We could be the next meme in a matter of moments , right . And so I think there's a healthy perspective to learn to go . You know you're . You're not as hidden as you think you are , cause I guarantee you that woman didn't go to the ballpark thinking I'm going to be making world news after this game is over .

Scripture teaches you that the Holy Spirit takes up residence . Holy Spirit , that's the spirit of God in our lives . That's why some people are like I have Jesus in my heart . No , you don't have Jesus in your heart .

Yeah , right , and Jesus is the Holy Spirit , which is the wisdom of God , the power of God , anything that the Holy Spirit shows the comforter , helper , God and all that comes from the throne room of heaven to us . You know a fruit of that in Galatians 5 , 20-ish , 22 , right .

The fruit of the spirit is love , joy , peace , patience , goodness , kindness patience self-control and I don't always get that right in my own life , but most of the times where I don't get that right , it's in unseen places , right , right , whether it's I'm mad at somebody who cut me off in traffic or whatever , and even that , as I mentioned , you know , somebody could go back and pull a dash cam or something and go who is this ? Yeah , you know , you know . Oh , he's a pastor .

so you know , having christ in our life doesn't make us better than anybody else , but it does give us the tools necessary that we were always meant to have in the first place that sin separated us from . And so , because of Jesus and the reconciliation , of the final work on the cross death , burial , resurrection , sin has been defeated , holy Spirit comes in and now we're in that relationship with God . So we have that direct access through the spirit of God . So we're experiencing these fruits in our lives where we should be at least right . And so , again , we're all on this journey . So my hope is that , as a Christ follower , that I'm allowing that kind of fruit to bear in my life , to where , if I'm ever in that opportunity , that I would respond in a way that would be healthy , right .

You know , and my greatest hope is that this my hope . And I don't know this woman's name . I would call her by her real name if I knew it at this point . But my hope , not that she's listening , but my hope is that she knows that there are people out there who are empathetic towards the pain and who are praying for her and hope the best for her to see her life turn around and be transformed and to be healed of that type of pain to where that would no longer be her response in the future .
