E88 | Decorating With Darkness: Entertaining the Spirit Jesus Opposed

Rhett and Justin Episode 88

From weight loss breakthroughs to spiritual battlegrounds, this episode takes listeners on a journey through transformation in both physical and spiritual realms. We kick off sharing a surprising weight loss success story where changing eating habits proved more effective than intense exercise regimens. The simple shift to portion control, smarter food choices, and focusing on protein over carbs yielded remarkable results without the feeling of deprivation or constant hunger.

The conversation naturally flows into deeper waters as we examine the spiritual implications of seemingly innocent cultural practices. We challenge listeners to consider why, as believers, we might decorate our homes with symbols representing the very forces we're called to oppose. Drawing from personal experiences with occult practices in our youth, we reflect on how easily dangerous spiritual realities become normalized through entertainment and marketing.

One of the most powerful moments comes through discussing Jesus' approach to darkness. Rather than avoiding spaces others feared as "haunted," He specifically chose them—demonstrating that light has nothing to fear from darkness. This perspective transforms how we engage with cultural celebrations like Halloween, suggesting that rather than withdrawing, believers can create spaces of genuine joy, community, and light.

Throughout our dialogue, we weave together practical health wisdom with spiritual discernment, showing how our everyday choices—from what we eat to how we decorate our homes—reflect our deeper values and beliefs. The conversation reminds us that transformation isn't about perfection but alignment, bringing our daily practices into harmony with what we truly believe.

Let’s keep the conversation going—send us a DM or drop a comment anytime.

Rhett:

Imagine a world where every conversation feels like a genuine connection with authentic people. A place where you truly feel like you belong and where everyone's got a chair at the table. Friends, welcome to Armchair Authentic. Okay, Justin, it's 2025. We're kicking into 2026, and I've been meaning to share this. Um, I don't even uh last year I was on this journey, and the journey was I'm gonna lose 25 pounds by 2025. And I kind of made that a part of our conversation, and and uh, you know, I didn't fail, but by 2025, I was I lost 19 pounds, and I was very grateful. I didn't lose the 2020. Yeah, it's not failing. Right. Then I gained the 10, I gained 10 pounds back by June of 2025, and so I was like, all right, all right, so still down nine pounds. I got a new vision for 2026. I'm gonna lose 26 pounds. Uh 2026. I was thinking, man, I just gonna keep this up 2027 or 27, 20. This is like working in the harder direction. How's that going for you? Uh, man, as of today, as of this recording date, I've lost 26 pounds. Seriously. Seriously, dang. I knew you were looking good. I was on rent. Yeah, so I I I share that to say I didn't talk a lot.

Justin:

He's gonna have a tucked in t-shirt.

Rhett:

Um maybe 15. Maybe 15. Um, but thank you, buddy. Um, you know, did I not look good before? You look good before. But you look better. You just look more alive. That's the thing about, yeah, because I can actually see you every day though.

Justin:

So I don't get when you see each other all the time, you don't see the changes happening. Yeah, that's true.

Rhett:

It's like you're it's like your kids, they grow up and you you don't have a clue. Like, well, how did you get 17? Like you've always you're my height. Yeah. Yeah. You can talk like this now. Anyway, I I share that. I I I I share that um to to say that I'm uh obviously I'm I'm proud of myself for trying to work really hard at it. Um I felt like I worked harder last year trying to learn 20, trying to lose 25 pounds than I actually have now, which is wild. Yeah. Like last year I felt like I was just killing myself. You were. You were you were you had such a regiment set up. And are you ready for this? I'm ready. I've done less. Yeah. Well, let me why in just different ways. Let me just say it's different. Yeah, because some people are probably wondering, well, what have you done differently? Okay, well, number one, I've changed my eating habits.

Justin:

Yeah.

Rhett:

So when I was working out last year and doing it very uh, you know, five miles a day kind of stuff, you know, I was still eating the same. Yeah. I didn't change my eating. Yeah. And so while my body was getting stronger at the same time, I was still feeding it the same way.

Justin:

Portions were getting stronger too.

Rhett:

They were like portion was yeah, I had no portion control. And um, even though I kicked out sodas and drank water, I lost a quick 10 pounds off of that. And anybody will do that. But I still ate a ton of sugar, I ate carbs with every meal. Yeah. Give me the loaded baked potato, you know. I mean, and it's funny that now when I even talk about a loaded baked potato with butter and cheese and sour cream, like my I don't even yeah, I I don't even long for it.

Justin:

Yeah.

Rhett:

I understand. Which is interesting because rarity.

Justin:

But it's so it's there's it's so good. Yeah. I probably do that three times a year. So it's awesome. I mean, I still love the thought of it. What, a potato? What you just named.

Rhett:

Oh man, I love it. Minus the sour cream. And here, hear me out. I'm all about it. Butter. Hear me out bacon. Butter bacon. Yeah, I mean, I love it. I and I still eat butter and I still eat bacon, and I still eat like, but I guess where I'm trying to say is I'm not trying to bring any guilt or shame on anybody that that does that because I still eat that, but I just I eat it in moderation. And so it's just blowing my mind how just changing your eating habits less. You don't need as much as you think you need.

Justin:

Yeah, that's true.

Rhett:

And I'm I'm not starving myself over here.

Justin:

Yeah, your body gets mad a little bit because it's used to that, but then it shuts up.

Rhett:

Yeah, and so so I'm I'm eating like grilled chicken. I don't eat fried chicken. Now that doesn't mean I won't eat a chicken nugget every once in a while from Chick-fil-A that's got fried on it. Don't trust me. It's different when it's Chick-fil-A. But I don't, uh yeah, because it's just healthy as Jesus chicken. That's what they say at least. But if you're asking me what am I doing differently, I'm I would say I'm I still walk. Uh I still work out occasionally, nowhere near as much as I did, but I um I'm just eating differently. So I drink water and I don't eat like here here's my thing. If I'm eating out like yesterday, I got grilled fish and I just ate the fish and it had broccoli with it. That's it. I didn't get a whole thing of fries. Sounds amazing. I don't eat fries. Like if I go to Chick-fil-A, I get the grilled chicken nuggets and a salad with fruit. Yeah, it's good. And I and I don't and I feel I feel like wow, this actually feels pretty good. Before I'd have been like, oh, this is gross. I need I need you know, but I need more, yeah. But if I if I go through, like I don't like if I go to Milo's for those in Birmingham, I don't get the fries. I don't need the fries, I just get the burger. And and so just portion control and less, I would say more protein, less carb. I think that's been a huge part. But I still enjoy a piece of bread. And and I'm not like I guess I what I'm trying to say is I'm not killing myself, but yet I'm finding myself losing weight a different way. Yeah. So I'm very, very grateful.

Justin:

I would go to Tzeki's for a long time and I would get the their kids' meal. So I'd call it in, yeah, and you could get uh they chopped up the grilled chicken, yeah, and then you could get like salad and a fruit ball with it.

Rhett:

Yeah.

Justin:

It was like a kid's feast, is what they called it. And and it at first it left you a little hungry, but after you do it, yeah, you're fine. Yeah. If you can balance it out, drink a lot of water, and it really is amazing how you you find out we we just naturally overeat our portion controls are just it's not even that's it. We don't mean to do it. When you go to a restaurant, they bring out a plate of it's like it's massive. Am I supposed to be eat all that? Yeah, yeah, and then you eat it all.

Rhett:

Well, normally, nor normally I'd be like, oh man, I got this and I'm still hungry afterwards. Right. And and now I'm like, I I'm not. And so I'm just choosing my mindset, I've changed I've framed it differently. Yeah, that's good. And I'm choosing to look at it differently, and I'm not missing out. I'm really not. I'm not missing out on I'm not thinking, oh, if I could just have those fries, oh, woe is me. No, I'm like, uh eat one or two, great, but just don't you don't need a whole two-fistful of French fries. You don't need it. Unless there's mile sauce, yeah, right. And so um, you save a lot more money and it actually is better for you. But all that to say some some people were like, well, it costs a lot more money to eat healthy. Does it buy grilled chicken at Walmart? I don't buy grilled chicken at Walmart. We don't buy meat at Walmart. Yeah, we don't buy meat at Walmart. And if you do, no, no, no big deal. We don't I'm gonna eat it. Don't tell me if I'm coming over for dinner. What's you once you eat real chicken? And actually, Costco chicken's really good, believe it or not.

Justin:

Like it's you know, we we order from these ranchers. Yeah. And it's like they they remove a lot of this chemical, all this stuff, and they'll ship it to us. There you go. It's like they dry freeze giant box of it, and then we put it in our freezer and collect it and just store it. And so I grill out probably two times a week.

Rhett:

Yeah, so we'll when we're done recording here. I'm actually I meant to do it last night and I forgot to. I'm actually gonna grill like, you know, a bunch of chicken. And dude, honestly, like it's quicker and it's better. Oh, yeah. And nobody can flavor it up like we can, you know. That's right. And um, I'm like, man, and then I just chop it up and I've got what I need for the week. And you made me a sandwich the other day. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was good. Protein shakes. Thanks. So protein shake in the morning, and that's like I don't sit there and make it at the in the kitchen. It's already like it's at Fair Life. Yeah. 30 grams of protein, little cow on it, chocolate shake. Oh, come on, somebody with my banana, my fiber bar, my you know, and I'm ready to go back to Costco.

Justin:

We let our membership, executive membership lapse for the first time since we've had kids. They'll forgive you for that. Well, we we did it on purpose. We were like, we don't really need it anymore, but we went to the normal.

Rhett:

Yeah.

Justin:

So we just we went a few months without Costco, and we just now last week got our membership back. But it's not executive. What's the one? What's the uh club level? Yeah, like oh it gets us in. Yeah. We don't justify.

Rhett:

There's not much of a difference. I think the executive is if you spend so much money, you actually get money back.

Justin:

That was us, yeah. And now we don't, yeah, we can't justify it. Exactly.

Rhett:

And it it basically pays for your membership at some point, you know, and then a little bit more.

Justin:

And I did miss Costco because you know, it was nice to go in there at this time September. I really enjoyed seeing the Christmas ornaments out. I'm not a fan. That was pretty amazing.

Rhett:

The older I get, the more I'm not a fan of really, really crowded places. Yeah. You know, and Costco is like the most crowded place on the planet. Well, number one, there's really there's only one in Birmingham. There has been, and now there's a new one coming. Yeah, there is. And the moment it opens, it's gonna be just as crowded. It's gonna be amazing. But and it's gonna be closer to me. It's literally 15 minutes down the road rather than 30 minutes. And that's why I don't like going to Costco and Birmingham because I I live far from it. But even it's just like the moment I pull in that parking lot is the moment I want to leave that parking lot. It's chaos, isn't it? It's just chaos.

Justin:

So you'll go there, you'll get your Christmas ornaments. Of course, now they got Halloween. We got the same Christmas ornaments we've had for you just long, you just go get that. By the way, care less about the Halloween stuff. Let's make that clear. Well, let me it's like we just hang up on this demonic stuff and we think it's cute. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, look at that demon.

Rhett:

Look at that demon out there murdering somebody with all that blood in front of my, you know. I mean, you know, when you take that in the context of what we're seeing in a in our nation around the world, it's like how in the world could you just we've been lulled.

Justin:

We just get lulled to sleep and we think it's cute to the point the people who don't think it's cute are the weird ones.

Rhett:

I literally went by somebody's house. The stuff started going out, and it was somewhere over in Leeds, I think. And I'm like, it's a murder scene in your front yard. Yeah, how cute. Um like, and let's let's put our kids like walking right into this. Let's normalize. Isn't this awesome? Isn't this so I mean this so cute? And we ask ourselves why we're dealing with so much you know junk in the world, and we're like, well, I don't know. Let's see for a minute.

Justin:

Yeah, if you don't believe there, if you don't believe there's a spiritual life, no shade to you. No shade, guys. If you believe in the spiritual life, yeah, just just I would challenge you to think about why we do some of the things that we do that channels emotions and thoughts and uh ask yourself in spirit.

Rhett:

Yeah, if you believe in heaven and hell, then you believe in angels and demons, and you believe in God, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and Satan and you know what one third of the angels that got kicked out of the heaven for pride, yeah, right, who are who are doing everything that they possibly can to try to bring, yeah, it is, right? Now Jesus has overcome it and there's authority in there. There's gonna become that moment where, you know, we mentioned in last episode, every tongue will confess and every knee will bow, right? Oh yeah. It's gonna happen, and and that's just not just in humanity, that's spiritual. Oh yeah, you know, Jesus is over heaven, earth, and under the earth according to scripture, his name is above all. So there is gonna be that day of reckoning that happens. Yep. And so don't think that every demon in hell is not trying to do everything that they possibly can to try to rally their troops and gain as much momentum for hell as they possibly can, even though they already know the outcome. So they're running scared, they're running rampant. Yeah. And so if you believe that, and and that's who we're talking to right now, then why in the world would you decide, you know what? I'm a spirit-filled Christian, man of God, take my family to church every Sunday. And I want to put every, I want to put, I'm just gonna put a welcome map for just showing how much I love the demonic right here. I got I got the world's largest skeleton, right? And I've got blood gushing out of this plastic skeleton right here and showing a knife over here, and and I'm gonna dress up like some chaotic clown that's gonna come at you when your little kids walk up to the door. Because it's cute. Yeah, oh, it's cute.

Justin:

So cute. Give them some candy.

Rhett:

Please, if you take this out of context, the soundbite that, like just know that they like it's not cute.

Justin:

We're being very facetious, yeah, very much so. And and and but you're strange for thinking it's not okay.

Rhett:

Uh yeah. You have to ask yourself, am I do I have blinders on my eyes right now? Talk about being double-minded. I mean, let's, you know.

Justin:

Well, I think there was a time too that that you know, I'm probably looking at it like, well, I'm just not gonna say anything. It's just you just see it enough. It's like it's it yeah, maybe it's my old age. Things are beginning to well come out of my mouth a little different now. Well, a little more straight to the point.

Rhett:

When you and I were, let's be very clear, when we were nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, six, like we loved how it worked.

Justin:

We were and I think that's why we really do have such conviction on it because we saw how it affected. And but but we we weren't really weren't in that mindset of being redeemed or relying on the blood of Christ.

Rhett:

No.

Justin:

We were so engaged in it. We loved it. We wanted the Ouija boards to help us, you know, navigate through stuff.

Rhett:

I mean, that was just it was the dopamine hit. It was wild life. It was it was when I look back at those moments. I look back at going, I was su I was searching for the supernatural. I was just looking for it in the wrong places.

Justin:

Yeah.

Rhett:

Oh, yeah.

Justin:

I I was yeah, because you could still feel the hairs raise up in your arms, it just would get it would get spooky. You could watch the right movie and it would terrify you and there would be a sense of let's watch it again.

Rhett:

Yeah.

Justin:

And terrify us to the point I'm like, uh, I'm scared to go to the bathroom right now. Would you stand outside this door while I go, real quick, and then we'll run right back.

Rhett:

Hey friends, if you're enjoying today's conversation, could you do us a huge favor? Would you share the link of this episode with a friend, with a coworker, with a buddy? I email it, airdrop it, text it, comment on Facebook, however, you would like to share it. Man, it would mean so much to us to help us get the word out to have more friends join us in on this journey. Thank you. All right, now back to the conversation. We laughed, but we were we really lived in fear, and rightfully so, because if you if you don't have the power and authority of Christ over any of that, well then you know, you're under full demonic obsession, you know, if you will.

Justin:

Yeah.

Rhett:

Uh and I I didn't say pubsession, you know, that that can't happen. And and and when we're looking at the crazy that's gone on in our world and our planet right now, and with these murders, that that is purely demonic, you know. I mean, yeah just the other day. Spirit of Cain. Yeah, really. Um, they were asking the guy that uh murdered that beautiful young girl from Ukraine on the subway. And and this is not verbatim, but the roundabout way was he said that wasn't me. He said something, something basically his words were like, something just told me I'm supposed to do it, and I just did what the thing told what I was what it told me to do. Yeah. And that is called demon. Yeah. When you've opened your mind and your life up to vile, vulgar, murderous, all kind of crazy, and you've you've been obviously in and out of jail 14 something times, yeah, you know, for for just open yourself up to the demonic, you know. Um it's just that that that's the thing, those are the things that happened.

Justin:

Well, I think about too when Jesus, you know, when we're reading the scriptures and the gospels, Jesus cast out a demon and several times, but in this case, cast out a demon. Yeah. But it was also important to let the person know, like, hey, make sure you're taking care of yourself now to fill it with God, because if not, it's gonna go leave and then it's gonna get a few of its buddies and say, Hey, let's at least go back and check out to see if that's off limits, that that place, that body. And they and they'll come back and you'll be worse than the first place that you were. Yeah. And so that's very clear. Jesus wanted us to know that, yeah, like for a reason.

Rhett:

Oh, 100%. When you look, you you can, you know, you can look in somebody's eyes and tell the condition of their soul. Oh, of what's the gateway to your soul, of what has yeah, what has embodied your spirit. Yeah, there is a light that goes out that goes dark.

Justin:

Yeah, literal. And we all can get the oppression that can hit us if we make the wrong choices, if we let our guard down. It's why you could have men who are addicted to pornography because you know, now you see it on devices, but whether it was magazines or movies, how whatever got someone into that state, yeah, it's coming in through the gateway of your eyes. And that's why you can talk to someone and there is an insatiable appetite in their eyes. Yep. When you're talking to them, and it's not towards good. No, it's toward pleasuring yourself in any way that you can. And if it's something that's insatiable, appetite that can never be quenched, yeah, if you're if you're looking down that avenue, you can begin to see the gateway of the soul in the eyes of someone. Yeah.

Rhett:

Yeah, 100%. And and and and gateway is a good word going back to like I would just ask yourself to go, why am I doing this? Why am I buying this death? Yeah, and and things that represent a spirit realm that I'm called to fight against and that I'm in battle with, that's at full out assault on my family, yeah, my life, my marriage, my kids, my finances, to try to pull me away from a relationship with God. Why, why in the world will am I allowing just oh, it's just cute and innocent, is it? Exactly. Or could it just be the little crack in the door that that allows uh a deeper movement of other things? You know, and I would just say, Absolutely, you know, look, man, and I've been on both sides of the fence for for a long time. You know, there were there were seasons in our life where we're like, well, we'll we'll take Max and we'll go trick-or-treating and we'll do it in a lighthearted, fun way, and candy and do it with friends and family, and and there are those moments, and there are the moments where you can, you know, take a dark moment and maximize it for light. You know, I think that I think that we should, right? Yeah, um, I think there are there is good things that could come from it, but like if my front porch looks like hell, yeah. Like when I say hell, I mean like the demonic and death, and just like I have to ask myself, well, does that obviously is it representing what really Christ is doing in me? Yeah, because God's delivered me from that.

Justin:

And you know what, that hell and the grave, and to at least speak what truth could be. You know, a lot of times we're nostalgic with things, and I understand if you're listening, if you are doing that, and it's almost like if you're triggered every year to do it because it reminds you of when you were a kid, or maybe you did you had parents that were like, we're not gonna do that, and the side of you comes out that wants to do that, yeah. You truly, I believe, might look at that with the best of intentions that I want my child to experience the fun part of life. And I understand the intention might be good, but yeah, you still what if you could have a perspective shift and just open up your eyes and say, Yeah, what did I really deck out my yard? Or what am I decking out the insides of my house? Not even decorations. I'm talking about what are we letting into our home? Yeah. Um, we would never let um someone who looked like that or has certain belief systems step into our house and say, Hey, why don't you talk to my kids for a little while and give them some candy? Yeah. Like that would be we because our eyes would see the truth of it and realize, well, uh, no, I'd get my gun and be ready. But if you look at the perspective, what are we unknowingly entertaining? Yeah. What are we is it's you know, I said that a while ago, even with Ouija boards when we were kids. Yeah, I did it more for fun because it had the name Milton Bradley on it. So it's like this is a toy, it's a game. And me and you pulled that out, and yeah, and I do remember uh one of the days that I forgot where we went. I don't were we in the backyard of the woods or somewhere. And we were crazy, man. But that was normal to us. Well, yeah, we were desensitized and we were watching horror movies, and we were like, let's just see what we can conjure up. Yeah, and we're sitting there and we begin to ask some questions, but we're also thinking it's it's Milton Bradley. It's a piece of plastic. And I'm convinced, and Rhett is as convinced that it's me moving this Ouija board around. Yeah. And all I know is, I mean, Rhett, you might reveal today that it was you. I just know I left there thinking when I saw in Rhett's eyes, and I at least, unless he was the greatest actor ever, which I am not, when he told me, bro, you were doing that. Shut up. Yeah, I'm like, no, it wasn't me. And we realized we're talking to a dead person. Oh my gosh, a spirit. It wouldn't have been a dead person.

Rhett:

It would not have been a dead person, but we would have thought it would have been a dead person if we were. We were talking, we were chatting.

Justin:

We're talking to the demonic some some people who had died, and it's and everything's responding to us. Yeah. And we were, I mean, if in if this was not backed up in scripture, we would sound we already sound totally crazy saying this. Yeah, but if you can read scripture, you realize there's a reason why we're not supposed to entertain spirits or entertain the dead to try to communicate. Why would that be put in the scriptures? Yeah. Like why? That sounds like well, you can't communicate with them. Yeah. Well, exactly. Yeah. But what if there is something there to be communicated with? If the scriptures decided to at least put that out there, yeah, I'm listening. But I love the here's what I do love. Uh, if you've watched The Chosen, one of my favorite parts is I I love the thought of Jesus when there's an episode where they're going to this house to stay for the night. Okay. And they warn them in this house like, beware, this one room is haunted. Oh, yeah. And it's like everybody's a little nervous, and Jesus says, Oh, I want that one. Oh, give me that one. And I laughed and I cried watching that scene. And I think I I cried a little bit because I thought of us as kids, and I just thought, that's the spirit, the spirit of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is in us right now because when he's in you, who cares if someone says it's haunted? That that brings zero. So here's here's the here's the the balance. I will not fear, but there is something there to be feared. 100%. But I will not fear because it's Christ in me, the hope of glory. And I fear God only. Yep. It's that holy fear. Yep. I will not be a slave to any spirit or any man out of fear. And that's by the way, I can wake up fearful. I can get those night terrors sometimes where you wake up in the middle of the night and you feel like every worry is on you, or there's forces that for at least me, and I can wake up and you can feel it. And that's real. I remember one time speaking at your church in Idaho, and in the middle of the night, I think I told you about it, but I woke up at like two or three and I couldn't go to sleep. And it's like I had this voice in my head saying, You better not talk tomorrow. You better not talk tomorrow. I mean, just it was like the episode last week, the kid at the fountain. Yeah. The kid at the fountain, he's gonna mess you up, he's gonna mess you up. I would have these voices just in my head. Why are you even standing up there? You have nothing to say, you have nothing to communicate. This is yeah, it's just those terrors. And when you're listening to this, maybe you can um relate to that. But I love the thought of Jesus walking into that room saying, I'll sleep in that one. Because he's not creating the fear, he's stepping into it saying, Light in the darkness. I'm light in the darkness. Yep. And so bringing it back to this. Uh now I I don't fear when I walk up to somebody's porch. I'm gonna still come to your house for dinner. If you invited me over, I don't fear that. No. But I would encourage you. I see it for what it is, but I also see it for what it is. Exactly. But I don't have to be concerned with what it is, but something tells me you don't see it for what it is. Yeah, it's cute right now. You do not see it for what it is.

Rhett:

I do think we have a responsibility to be a light in the darkness, and I don't think that we should be the homes that we turn our lights off and just hide in the hide in the dark as if yeah, as if we we don't exist, you know, like, oh no, somebody's knocking on the door. What do we do? Don't answer it. Just don't walk away. You know, I really, I honestly, like, what better opportunity do we get about?

Justin:

Yeah.

Rhett:

I mean, the devil is literally walking up to your front door. And I mean, not you know these little kids, but I'm just saying, like, I mean, I don't mean yeah, yeah, the costume, right? No, what I'm saying is for what it represents. Right, yes, you know, uh, because there are a lot of cute little kids dressed up with like He-Man, He-Man, oh my god. Isn't that coming back? Is it coming back? It is. I think they're making the movie. He's one of the Avengers. My favorite Avengers. I like He-Man. Hey, friends, Rhett here. Just want to take a moment to speak to those who may be joining us for the first time. We want to say welcome, friends. However, you found us, we are so glad that you did, and we believe it wasn't by accident. We're so glad that you joined us in on this conversation today. In fact, if you haven't already done so, could we encourage you to follow us on social media? You can find us on Facebook or Instagram at armchairauthentic or over on X at ArmchairOff Pod. That's Armchair Off A-U-T-H P-O-D. All right. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Now let's get back to our conversation. Yeah. Don't know that Avengers. Who? Who? That's DC. Yeah, He-Man, Solar Man. I mean, because then you get in, you start getting legalistic now and you start getting into the realm of like not you, but I will not serve you. I'm not even gonna watch Disney movies anymore, Avengers, I mean, because if I'm watching that, I might as well not participate in it, you know, like well at some point, right? Absolutely. So it's like, what anyway, what I was trying to say is I do think we have uh an amazing opportunity to be a light, to be kindness, to be love, to be joy, to be peace, to be, you know, the goodness of God, you know. Yeah. Um, I I think so. When somebody knocks on your door, whether or not you have candy or not, you know, like I if you're that family and you're not celebrating it, I don't think you're celebrating it with candy. Yeah, I think you're just saying, hey, I got somebody coming to my door. Yeah, God bless you, God bless you. Hey, Jesus loves you, man. Like, oh, we there, you're cute, you know. Yeah, you look like a demon from hell. You need to be delivered in Jesus' name. Like, can I pray for your kid right now? You know, I'm kidding. That's a joke. That's a little sarcastic. I like doing it sarcastically.

Justin:

Hand them candy, put my hand on him, like, aren't you a little devil? In Jesus' name, and whisper it.

Rhett:

In Jesus' name, deliver this, you know. Don't let this have any impact on this. Yeah. So, what we would do, and and and I'm again, you might be thinking, if you're listening to this, but Red, we've celebrated Halloween with you before. I'm like, no, did you know what we really did was we gathered friends and family around around a campfire and oh yeah, and just had a good time out in the driveway. And and people were gonna be walking by and walking around. If they come over, we're like, hey, it's good to see you, you know, God bless you. And like, but my house wasn't dressed up like death. Right. And we had a lot of life happening, a lot of laughter happening, a lot of good times and family. We weren't celebrating uh what the world was doing, but we were very present and and there, and people can sense kindness, they can sense love, they can sense joy, they can sense just this moment, even if it's just a brief moment, a brief, a brief moment of interaction. And so I don't know. So when I look at it through that lens, I just want people to understand there's a I don't think again, we go hide under a rock and you know, I mean, if you got places to be, go go do something. But like I think it's okay to be that family that that sits out on their driveway and has music play in that get you a little get you a little fire going, yeah. You know, s'mores and marshmallow it up, whatever. Hand out the best candy, yeah, and and just love people well. You don't have to be a prude.

Justin:

Yeah, you know, so that's right. Be you still gotta be light in the darkness, exactly.

Rhett:

Well, because that's what we're called to be. We're either salt of the earth or the light of the world. That's right, yeah. And so light I think of Clark Griswold in Christmas, where he's got all the like every light on the house. Be that person, man. Floodlight it up. You're the only house in the neighborhood who's fully lit up with the manger scene and you know, Jesus and everything. You're making it very clear. I'll be like, we get it, okay. You're the light in the door coming to see it. Yeah, that's true. That's it, you know. That's a good idea. Well, you put Santa Claus out there. They're okay. Now I don't know if I believed your Christianity. That's guy's well, that was Saint Nicholas. He was a saint, you know. It's what he represents.

Justin:

He was a gift giver. He was a gift giver. Not a life taken. Yeah. That's right. He gives life, not takes it.

Rhett:

Like the little skeleton monkey hanging on your tree. I would have never thought you and I would sit down today and start talking Halloween stuff. This is ridiculous. This is the kind of fun, crazy stuff we get into, man. Well, we love you. We hope you have a great day. Thanks for being with us today. And we look forward to, you know, seeing you hopefully next week. God bless. See you then. Hey friends, thank you so much for joining in on our conversation today. It has been our pleasure to serve you. We cannot wait for our next episode that drops next Monday. But until then, we hope you have a great week. Stay safe, and we will see you real soon. God bless you.
